About Thomas Dolby

Thomas Dolby has come a long way from his days as one of MTV's early stars. Nominated for five Grammy's and best known for his song "She Blinded Me with Science," he moved away from the traditional music industry in the 1990s, to become a successful internet music pioneer and mogul.

The founder and CEO of Beatnik, Inc., Thomas Dolby co-created the polyphonic ringtone technology that powers over one billion mobile phones made by Nokia, Sony, Motorola, and Samsung. He is also the founder of Retro Ringtones LLC, which pioneered the use of "real" music recordings as ringtones, completing licensing agreements with all the major record labels. In all likelihood, the ringtone you use is powered by Dolby's vision.

An effective bridge between old technology and the new guard, and a champion of the digital revolution, technology speaker Thomas Dolby is on the board of Music Buddha and Net4Music, and an advisor to the RIAA and ASCAP, as well as the music director for TED.

Important note:

The session will take place outdoors, in the Peristyle exhibition area, on the grounds of the New Orleans City Park. Please dress for weather appropriately.
